February 4 Lesson Notes

Triads
– learn Db+, b-, c#-
– for broken – make sure to play evenly in tone (no accents/holes) and rhythm
– remember to play in the lower register when needed

Fluttering Leaves
– make sure to “catch” the last melody notes (typically before a jump) of your RH with the pedal
– vary dynamics
(same as last week)
– try out different interpretations – anxious (faster, more accelerations), laid back (slower, more stretching out time) and such
– try out different pedaling
– vary speed changes, from even to stretching out the sound

Sentimental Waltz
– finish learning the second page (remember the key signature)
– first page
> work on playing with a steady rhythm – goal 1 – 126, and build to 144
> work on LH sound – strong – weak – weak
> from bar 10 onwards, practice starting from the half notes or beat 2

Les Carillons
– practice with the metronome at a faster tempo
> work on playing with a steady rhythm
– practice all staccato to help with accuracy

Game of Patience
– add dynamics
– crescendo in bar 13 and 15

Theory
– work on memorizing vocabulary
