March 16, 2022March 30 Lesson Notes
March 30, 2022Sonatina in F Major
– play Left Hand softer for the broken triads
– work on bar 24, 26
> for the 16th notes in your RH to bar 25, try using the two-note slur motion: down up (which will also affect the shaping for a have a loud to soft sound, allowing your RH to lift up off the piano slightly and drop onto the accented note)
> check proficiency by playing the bar itself – if it works, cool. If not, drill from the 16th notes (beat 4 and 5)
> check how they integrate in the rest of the song by starting from bar 20/21 and playing till ~bar 28
> count out loud
> tap your foot (try alternating which foot you use, eg. a run through with Right, then another with Left)
– pay attention to the tension on your arm – shoulder, upper arm, forearm, wrists, hand, fingers
> play lighter and more relaxed
Technique
– work on Db+, b- c#- harmonic and melodic scales
– time yourself – see how long it takes to play through all technique
– vary your practice
> try starting with arpeggios, or minor melodics
– add dynamics to your scales
– try to play your scales faster
– try using lateral motion for a more legato sound
Les carillons
– detach quarter notes, especially in RH
> watch out for areas where the quarter notes are within a group
– for off-beat eighth notes, “go to” (dynamically) the first beat of the following bar
> for the first part of the second page, “go to” the half notes instead
– record yourself (video/audio) to review any glitches/areas to adjust (like detaching notes)
