January 11 Lesson Notes

C-major scale
– work on 2 octaves, Hands Separately
– for 1 octave, Hands Together check form
> don’t drop your wrists
> keep your fingers curved
> don’t collapse your fingertips

C-major triad
– solid – make sure to play the notes exactly together
– broken – work on note accuracy

Just as I Am
– add pedal
– add louds and softs
– try to memorize

Minuet in F Major
– drill bar 7-8
> check fingering for the triplet
– bar 4, 16, 24 – make sure to play F in your Left Hand
– try to keep a steady rhythm – no pauses between bars
> between bar 4 -5
> between bar 6 – 7
– for the second section, drill in groups of 4 bars

Boogie Woogie pattern
– keep your wrist slightly raised for more mobility
– try using this chord progression:
C-F-C-G-C-F-G-C
– work on playing with a steady rhythm with no pauses between chord switches
– once your Left Hand can play evenly, try adding your Right Hand
> play solid triads
> or play a scale (5-finger from C to G or 1-octave from C to C)
