March 9, 2022– nice work on ascending
– work on descending
> use correct fingering (don’t skip the second finger in your Left Hand)
– work on G-major and D-major
> they can use the same standard as C-major
RH – 1-2-3-1-2-3-4-1-2-3-1-2-3-4-5
LH – 5-4-3-2-1-3-2-1-4-3-2-1-3-2-1
> D-E-F#-G-A-B-C#-D
– try playing with your eyes closed once you are confident with your fingering
Triads
– nice improvement on solid
> try to “cushion” with your wrist – start slightly raised and lower as you play (like bending your knees when you land after a jump)
– work on note accuracy for broken
Sea Shanty
– drill bar 8-9 (aim to play 10 times cleanly)
> make sure you can play them at the same speed as the rest of the song
> no slowing down in bar 9
– work on the last line
Ear Exercise
(finished – C, F, G new key – Bb)
– use your ear to figure out Twinkle Twinkle Little Star starting on any white key
(same as last lesson)
Composition
– try to compose a song in d-minor or a-minor position for next lesson
– eg. A-E, A-F, A-E, G-D, A-E, A-F, A-E, B-D
– try to write it down on paper (so you remember what the notes are)
Tuesday Tango
– remember to play the F#
Icicle Rag
– practice slowly
– watch how the notes line up (check where your hands play
together)
– practice from bar 9 to the end Hands Separately
– remember to play the B-flat
Sight Reading
– redo Exercise 5-9 while counting out loud
